Treadmill, Rowing machine or both?

February 25th, 2010 admin Leave a comment Go to comments

I’m seriously unfit at the moment, and pretty overweight, and whenever I’ve dieted in the past, it hasn’t really worked. So obviously I need to diet AND do more excercise.
I’ve found both of them reasonably cheap with decent customer reviews, and I could possibly even afford to get both. But I don’t know if I’d be wasting my money and just one would be enough. The attraction of a runner is that I can watch TV or something whilst I’m using it!!! With a rower, it’s probably be quite difficult to do that.
Would you recommend that I get one over the other, or should I stretch my budget and go for both?

Just workout daily (lightly) and eat smaller portions. No need for a diet. Just eat normal healthy food but, in smaller portions. You might be a Little hungry after a meal but you’ll get use to that feeling after a week or two and then it shouldn’t be a problem. As for the machine, my advice would be to not buy either and just go for a walk everyday. nothing extreme, just a nice brisk walk. And always eat AFTER you work out. I tend to eat less or feel like eating less after a work out. walks, crunches, and buy some 3-5 lb hand weights to work on your arms and you should be just fine.

My friend who is a fitness instructor swears by the rowing machine as a good, all round, exerciser. But! I bought one and find it too intense so very rarely use it. I also bought a running machine which I do use. I set aside 30 minutes a day and do a fast walk while I am watching tv and it’s great. If I were you I would start with the running machine and see how you get on. You can always get the rower at a later stage. Good luck!
